1968-1985
"Action is thoughtless without knowledge and without
action knowledge is barren."
St. Augustine

As the 1960s came to an end, Villanova celebrated its 125th anniversary in
1967-1968. It also received national recognition for excellence. Beginning in
1985 U.S. News and World Report consistently rated Villanova as one of the top
universities in the United States, while its graduates distinguished themselves in many
walks of life. In 1985 Villanova's basketball team captured the nation's attention
and electrified the campus when it won the NCAA championship.
