Contemporary Villanova

1985-1992

"There are two things commanded in this life that are especially great burdens: we must control ourselves and we must endure."

St. Augustine
Sermon 38, 1, 1

In the years just before its Sesquicentennial, Villanova University upheld and advanced its reputation for academic excellence. Important public officials continued to visit the campus. As the same time Villanova students remained sensitive to the plight of poor and underprivileged people, both locally and in the world beyond. Complementing these efforts was a greater commitment to cultural diversity in Villanova's curriculum, faculty, and student body.
